Discovered attack & pin
We're going to combine two attacking techniques for a super-attack. In this lesson, we use the discovered attack plus a pin.
Take a look at the example to learn how it works.
What do you have to do?
Win material. Use a discovered attack in combination with a pin.
The white knight and the rook form a nice battery on the e-file.
Black also has two pieces on this file, the bishop and the king.
By moving the knight out of the way (discovered attack) White makes his rook pin the black bishop!
Now all that remains is to find a safe square for the knight. c5 of course!
White wins a piece.
